Thank you so much for posting this. I live in Australia and the news of Pilger’s passing was reported in a tone of embarrassment by the media here...it was like they had forgotten about him, like an elderly relative left to waste away in an old folks’ home. It must be awkward for them, as state propagandists, to be confronted with an actual journalist like Pilger. The regime here continues to pearl clutch about the ‘threat from China’ whilst doubling down on legislation to silence any dissent from Australian citizens. Pilger knew what the ugly reality of Australia is, that underneath the shiny surface it is a deeply authoritarian and nasty place to anyone who dares to question.

A huge loss. I am grateful for his choices in life, whereby he educated me and many others about the most important things, things schools and universities, and most parents, would never teach us. May his courage and light be infectious.
