I have recently finished reading "The New Silk Roads", Peter Frankopian ( 2015) which illuminates the history of the world in this context for the past two millennia. His review of American and British foreign policy in this region for the past 500 years makes it easily credible that US dirty tricks (CIA instigated regime change), NATO expansion, and BioLab support are real incentives for the Russian assault in the Ukraine.
