Wow. As someone living in the U.S., this is shocking. He did not have the right to remain silent, had to give his DNA and had to give his personal political views. On a good note, I'm going to check out The Gray Zone and see what it's all about.

The only things I would say to police in such a situation are:

1) Am I under arrest?

2) Am I free to go?

3) I want a lawyer.

Those cops- at a regular airport doing a routine job. Quite unbelievable. Well, no one should fly then,, unless absolutely necessary. It's bad for the environment, and maybe for your health -in a very direct way.
