Putin speaks whilst Indian, Chinese and other citizens prevented from leaving Ukraine
Given the propaganda war on our minds, we must question everything these days.
Vladimir Putin spoke at the UN Security Council meeting on Thursday, 3rd March 2022, the video of which is linked below.
Given the fact that RT has been banned from the majority of platforms, I find it curious that they continue to livestream on Meta formerly known as Facebook.
The following is a precis of what I felt were the salient aspects of what Putin said.
More than 3,000 Indian citizens at the train station in Kharkiv and they continue keeping them there, including 576 people in the city of Sumy are being prevented from leaving Ukraine. Neo Nazis opened fire on Chinese students who wanted to leave Kharkiv, two of them were wounded.
“Once again, hundreds of foreigners want to leave the hostilities but they are not allowed to do that. Basically, they are taken prisoners trying to delay their leave or they want to evacuate them via Lviv to Poland to travel across the entire area of hostilities, thus risking their lives.
”Our military opened safe passage, green (? humanitarian) corridors to allow them to leave safely. They are giving them transport so that civilians, foreign citizens get an opportunity to move to safer zones. And once again, nationalists (neo nazis?) are not allowing this to happen. More than that, now they are telling foreigners to address, to appeal to their authorities and then authorities should address the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry. Basically, they are throwing them under the gun fire. And they treat, Neo Nazis treat their own population even worse. They are hiding behind their backs. They are using them as human shields.
“Our military witness such facts as, when in Donbas… People in the high rises. They were crowded and then there were broken walls in the lower floors and they were putting their tanks and canons, putting snipers and machine guns on the roofs. Only fascists use this kind of military tactics. They were inhuman to the local population, and that’s when Soviet troops, Soviet forces tried to liberate the land from their repressors to avoid casualties among civilians. And unfortunately, they are taking casualties as well.
It is our duty to support the families of the dead and wounded, brother in arms who were fighting for our safety, for the people of Russia.
All the family members, all the servicemen who died during the special military operation in Ukraine will get the insurance payments that they are guaranteed by law.
7,421,000 rubles and monthly they will receive compensation for each family member of those who died.
I think we should have an additional payment to every family member of those who died, from the Defence Ministry and other law enforcement agencies who participated in the operation with a lump sum of 5 million rubles.
All the servicemen who were wounded by this operation, they will also be getting payment. What I mean is time and lump sum for the wounded for being shell-shocked and wounded in any way.
The military plan is going as planned according to the time set and all the targets are being hit successfully.
Mercenaries from elsewhere, including the Middle East are working with the Neo Nazis.
The Defence Minister will provide the technical details in his report.
Although most of the media in India are repeating headlines such as has been published by The Indian Express this morning, Delhi said no info but Putin claims 3,000 Indian nationals being held in Ukraine ,there were video and other reports this past week which confirmed the dire situation as students tried to leave Ukraine.
This video posted Sunday, 27th February for example shows a student apparently being kicked in the head.
The description for the following video posted Monday, 28th February is as follows:
Hundreds of Indian students remained trapped on the Ukrainian side of the Polish border on Saturday night. Ukrainian border guards were not allowing them through checkpoints. The students are making a perilous dash to safety, but are left stranded in the freezing cold, without shelter, food, and money, and their phones dying fast.
The English voiceover commences at 1:30mins in the video below which strangely doesn’t comment on one of the Ukrainian soldiers firing shots in the air. Note: “it’s not that the border is closed.”
I recommend reading the Harrowing tales as international students flee to border published by University World News 2nd March, which has the most information about the situation with students trying to cross the borders out of Ukraine.
India’s embassy in Kyiv on 2 March issued an urgent advisory to Indian nationals in capital letters to “leave Kharkiv immediately, repeat immediately in the light of the deteriorating situation”.
Citizens were advised to proceed to Pesochin, Babaye, in the western suburbs of the city and Bezlyudovka, 13km south of Kharkiv “as soon as possible for their safety. Under all circumstances they should reach these settlements by 1800 hrs (Ukrainian time) today.”
It was reported that the students were not properly informed nor kept apprised of what they should do in the circumstances, initially being told to stay put.
According to the Ukrainian government, 76,548 international students from 155 nations are enrolled at the country’s universities, drawn by low tuition fees and living costs. Around 25% of them are from India, with other large groups from Morocco, Turkmenistan, Nigeria, China and other South Asian countries.
China only began to evacuate its citizens on Monday after telling them a week ago to stay put and not display any obvious marking of their identity or nationality.
Official media appeared to underestimate the number of Chinese citizens in Ukraine, at around 6,000 – the number who registered with the embassy for evacuation – but sources suggest the figures in Chinese official media were “very out of date” and put the number of Chinese students in Ukraine at closer to 10,000.
Apparently, the Pakistan embassy had provided shelter to Indian students stranded in Ukraine.

There is also this by the New York Times, the authenticity of which I am unsure.

Given the current level of ramped up censorship, I would be extremely surprised if this was an isolated incident:

Amen to that.
