“I'm 24 years old and I'm here,” said a Just Stop Oil protester, who blocked a major highway into London this morning, “Because I don't have a future.”

In truth, carbon emissions in Britain have been declining for decades.

Human resilience to disasters is rising and there is no scientific scenario for greater deaths from disasters due to climate change in the future

The activists ignore these facts.

“They are betraying young people like me,” said the 24-year-old activist. “I wouldn’t have to be here if they did their lawful duty to their own citizens. Why did it take young people like me!?”

Notes psychologist Sam Vaknin, “There are narcissists whose grandiosity is being a victim.”

A young protester who is spray painting the side of a building says, “Here I am, an ordinary person having to do this!”

Vaknin: “I'm a victim, so I'm a saint. I'm morally superior to you.”

Protester: You think I like it? No. This is something I feel as a duty that I have to do.

Sam: Narcissism is about a lack of empathy.

BBC interviewer: Do you think you are taking enough people with you?

Activist: This isn't a popularity contest. This is the biggest crisis that humanity has ever faced.

Vaknin: Today most victimhood movements are about grandiosity. They don't have any meaningful agendas.

BBC: Isn't the risk that you lose support from Londoners?

Just Stop Oil spokesperson: We don't actually need support.

Vaknin: It's about entitlement and exploitation.

BBC: Do you regret that you are shifting police work?

Just Stop Oil spokesperson: The climate crisis is the biggest threat to law and order.

Vaknin: That's an exceedingly dangerous phenomenon. “I have a right because I have a grievance. I'm entitled. You have an obligation towards me.”

Just Stop Oil spokesperson: If we receive no response from ministers by the end of Friday the fourth, we'll escalate our legal disruption against this government.

Vaknin: Narcissists thus engage in temper tantrums similar to children.

Protester: I'm furious and I'm devastated.

Vaknin: They just want to be heard. They want to garner attention. They want to become celebrities and famous.

As I have expressed in another blog, I am against hydraulic fracturing due to the vast quantities, millions of gallons of fresh water required which can never be purified and would cause irreparable damage to aquifers and the environment. Fracking is also not geologically a viable option in Britain as set forth in this video.

The BBC published several reports about members of the astro turf Just Stop Oil’s irresponsible attention-seeking actions yesterday and included a transcript for actress activist Louise in this piece. They are of course going to make it much more difficult for truly organic grassroots groups to protest peacefully and lawfully which is another reason why they are being promoted.

Yesterday, 7 November 2022:

A High Court injunction has been granted to prevent Just Stop Oil protesters disrupting the M25.

It means anyone fixing themselves to any object or structure on the motorway - and anyone assisting - can be held in contempt of court.

Those in breach could face imprisonment, an unlimited fine and seizure of assets.

Transport Secretary Mark Harper said the injunction would tackle a "reckless minority of protesters".

"Protesting by blocking busy motorways or climbing overhead structures is extremely dangerous and disruptive, which is why I instructed National Highways to apply for this further injunction, which the courts have granted," he said.
